Senate Bill 6065, my bill to protect children under the age of eighteen from the harmful effects of exposure to ultraviolet radiation associated with tanning devices, has received a public hearing and been approved by the Senate Committee on Commerce & Labor. It is now awaiting a vote by the full Senate, after which it would be considered again by the House of Representatives.
It is difficult to hear about people dealing with cancer as a result of something they did in their teens. The state needs to implement some common-sense measures to prevent needless tragedies like this, and my bill will help protect kids from an increased risk of melanoma.
